Editorial Reviews:

  • What would you do if you were sitting quietly in your living room when a mysterious couple appeared from out of nowhere - and then told you they were "ascended masters" who had come to reveal some shocking secrets of existence and teach you the miraculous powers of advanced forgiveness? Would you call the cops? Call a psychiatrist? Call out for pizza?

When two such teachers appeared before Gary Renard in 1992, he chose to listen to them (and ask a lot of impertinent questions). The result is this startling book: an extraordinary record of 17 mind-bending conversations that took place over nearly a decade, reorienting the author's life and giving the world an uncompromising introduction to a spiritual teaching destined to change human history.

  • Summary: So powerful...it might just change your life!
  • Comment: I didn't know anything about "A Course in Miracles" when I read this book for the first time and had no idea just how transforming it would be. From what I know now....reading this book saved me years in the study of "A Course in Miracles". Gary takes the reader directly to the heart of ACIM and does so in a playful way that is easy to grasp on a deep level.

    The bottom line:
There are only two choices and only one of them is real.
The two choices are between Love and fear.

    from ACIM:
"This course can therefore be summed up very simply in this way: Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists. Herein lies the peace of God."

Thank you Gary (Arten and Pursah) for this book and for the insight on what the course teaches. True forgiveness is the key to real happiness...and freedom.

  • Comment: Gary Renard's "The Disappearance of the Universe" is one of the best books out there to teach a beginner or an expert on the lesson of forgiveness. I came across his book and knew nothing about the Course in Miracles (CIM), but having read his DU book first, I was able to grasp the CIM better. I had the privilege of getting to know him on a cruise, and learn from him face-to-face. He's one of the most down-to-earth, genuine teachers I've ever met. This is a lot coming from me as I've met a lot of authors and read their books. When he graciously granted me an interview, I felt a genuine presence of integrity, humbleness, and a love of just teaching through the message he was given through his ascended masters. He's a wise man, who has given the world a fantastic study guide in the art and science behind the most important lesson for us all - forgiveness. Following our holy spirit; instead of our egos as our teachers not only changes our present life, but allows any future lives (if applicable) to be filled with joy. I'm currently immersed in reading his other book, Your Immortal Reality, at the moment, which I highly recommend. I find the CIM a lot easier to apply in my life because of Gary's teachings. His books are worth buying, and even more important, worth applying to your life. Regards, Michelle Strbich | [...]

  • Summary: Lessons in Forgiveness
  • Comment: The Dissapearance of the Universe (DU) teaches us that almost every experience that we have on this world is an apportunity for forgiveness. But this book does not teach the kind of forgiveness that we are used to where we truly believe that we have been the victims of some attack but we have to be the bigger person and overlook any offense while still thinking that the person is guilty. The overall message of this book comes straight from A Course in Miracles and it is basically telling us that we wrote the script on what happens to us lifetime after lifetime so in reality nothing really "happens" to us so there is are no real attacks and no real grievances so when we forgive, we don't condemn but we realize that there was no harm to begin with.

This simple yet profound idea is hard for people to swallow because we are so used to the ways of the world, which are also the ways of the Ego. This book also teaches to give up psychological attachment to the ways of the world because they are so fleeting. In this sense, the teachings of DU are very similar to Buddhism. Finally, what this book aims for each of us to understand is that in every single interaction with others we really just interact with own selves and our only real power in the world is to choose how we want to perceive those interactions: with the eyes of the Ego or the eyes of Spirit. This is the biggest choice and the biggest lesson because if you choose Spirit then you should forgive and realize that only things that come Spirit are real and since all things in the world come from the Ego, then they can never be real nor have the power to damage our Spirit which is eternal and unchanging.
